Steel City Sue & the Smoke Stacks

6pm Bluegrass Jam – BYO banjo, guitar, bass, mandolin, fiddle, voice and join in or just sit and listen and enjoy the bluegrass session. 

8pm Band – Steel City Sue & the Smoke StacksSu Morley aka Steel City Sue, is a songwriter and fiddle player fromi Newcastle. Her alt-country sound incorporates old time and bluegrass feels and her original lyric style covers political stories and comment, dry-humoured country heartache, and dreamy visions of stepping off the beaten path. 

In the last year the Steel City Sue band and trio have toured NSW and appeared with at the ‘Dashville Skyline’ Americana festival, Illawarra Festival, Gulgong Folk Festival, Nundle Rocks-Tamworth Country Music Festival in NSW, the Kelly Country Pick in Victoria. 

Su has just released her debut album of original songs – recorded in Kansas USA, with Mike & Katie West of Truckstop Honeymoon. The title track Boom Town won the 2018 Australian Roots Music Award for best song.
Venue: Yulli’s Surry Hills, upstairs screening room. 417 Crown Street Surry Hills. Yulli’s are known for their great selection of handcrafted beers, wines and delicious vegetarian fare so there’s plenty of choice for drinks and eating.
